Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Location: Statistics Department, Room 002, University of Ghana, Legon.
Building begins at 10:25 AM after the opening ceremony and panel discussion. All submissions are due on DevPost by 4:00 PM.
Judging takes place from Saturday evening through Monday morning. The top 5 teams will be invited to a live pitch ceremony on Monday afternoon, where the top 3 winners will be announced and prizes awarded.
Eligibility
This hackathon is open to all university students in Ghana. You do not need to be a Computer Science student or have prior coding experience to participate.
All participants must be registered for the hackathon through our official registration form. Teams must consist of 2–3 members. Individual submissions will not be accepted.
Project and Submission Requirements
All code must be written during the hackathon.
Pre-built projects, repurposed coursework, or previously submitted work are not permitted. You may use any programming language, framework, library, or API.
Projects must address a social impact challenge aligned with the hackathon theme.
All submissions must be made on DevPost by 4:00 PM and include:
- Project name
- Description
- GitHub repository link
- Demo video or screenshots
- Team member details
- A note on AI tools used
Incomplete or late submissions will not be considered.
Prizes
1st Place: GHC 1000 Cash prize + $750 Anthropic API credits + free enrollment into the GAIA IT Academy Program (worth GHS 3,000 for each team member)
2nd Place: GHC 700 Cash prize + $500 Anthropic API credits + GAIA enrollment benefits (subject to 1st place team size)
3rd Place: GHC 500 Cash prize + $250 Anthropic API credits
A total of $1500 in Anthropic API credits will be distributed among the top 3 teams.
Judging Criteria and Winner Selection
Projects will be scored by a panel of external judges using a standardized rubric across five categories:
Innovation and Creativity — How original and inventive is the solution?
Social Impact — Does the project meaningfully address a real-world problem?
Technical Execution — Does the project work? Is the code functional and well-structured?
Use of Claude/AI — How effectively does the project leverage AI tools?
Presentation and Demo — Is the project clearly explained and well-demonstrated?
Judges will review all DevPost submissions over the weekend.
The top 5 teams will be selected and invited to a live pitch ceremony on Monday afternoon at the Computer Science Department Software Lab, University of Ghana.
Each team will have 3 minutes to pitch and demo. Judges will then select the top 3 winners and prizes will be awarded on the spot.
Code of Conduct
All participants, mentors, judges, volunteers, and organizers are expected to uphold a respectful and inclusive environment throughout the hackathon.
Harassment, discrimination, or disruptive behavior of any kind will not be tolerated. This includes but is not limited to offensive verbal comments, intimidation, unwelcome physical contact, and sustained disruption of talks or activities.
Anyone asked to stop such behavior is expected to comply immediately. Violations may result in removal from the event at the discretion of the organizers.
